Meet the Creator
Aquarify is built by Jeff Toniolo — a fellow aquarist who wanted better tools for the hobby. Not a startup, not a corporation — just one person building something useful.
Aquarify is built by Jeff, a fishkeeper, a software developer, a dog dad, just a regular guy.
I've been in the hobby on and off for almost 20 years. A few years back, after a move left my tanks in storage, I stumbled on MD Fish Tanks in my feed and his videos reminded me of what I was missing. I've kept community tanks, had mixed success with live plants, and I've done my best to learn from the many YouTube creators that have filled my feed and inspired me since. I'm not an expert. I'm just someone who loves this hobby.
I've spent the better part of three decades working in tech; the last ten or so building business applications. I started Aquarify as a side project. Then I got downsized, like a lot of developers did. I started doing freelance jobs, training AI to do my former job, just to make ends meet. Eventually, I decided to go all in on the thing I was already building; something I actually cared about, for a community I'm actually part of. Aquarify is the result.
This is a solo project. There's no team, no investors, the roadmap isn't driven by the greed of venture capitalists. Just one hobbyist building the tool he wished existed, in the open, and hoping the community will help shape it.
